DAY 2

TUESDAY, 19.11.2024

B2B FORUM Hall 7, B2B Auditorium

10:00 – 11:00

registration & NETWORKING

11:00 – 12:00

Session 1: From hydrogen project development to hydrogen exports

The global hydrogen market is steadily scaling up. In that context, hydrogen trade flows between countries are being shaped. Many countries plan on exporting hydrogen and derivatives to the EU. This panel will provide those countries with an opportunity to demonstrate their respective value offering and competitive advantage.

11:00 – 12:00

Break and Exhibition Visit

12:00 – 13:00

Session 2: Developing and accessing hydrogen infrastructure under the new regulatory environment

The new Hydrogen and Decarbonised Gas Market package defines how critical hydrogen infrastructure can be developed by industry and accessed by third parties. Each Member State now needs to define if regulated tariffs will already apply or if bilateral contracts can still be used during a transitional phase. This applies to access to underground storage sites, import facilities, ammonia cracking facilities and access to hydrogen pipelines.

13:00 – 14:00

NETWORKING AND EXHIBITION VISIT

14:00 – 15:00

Session 3: National legal frameworks for hydrogen in Europe

With the adoption of the legislation under the Fit for 55 and Hydrogen and Decarbonised Gas Market packages, national authorities are now tasked with transposing EU law relating to hydrogen in the national legal system. This session will address these challenges through a discussion with stakeholders from across the EU on key aspects to be considered when developing national legal frameworks for hydrogen and best practices from first movers.

15:00 – 16:00

NETWORKING AND EXHIBITION VISIT

16:00 – 17:00

Session 4: Deployment challenges of large-scale hydrogen production projects: What to look out for

Speakers will evaluate how the various support schemes are helping to bring projects into final investment decisions. Developers that are in the midst of building their large-scale production projects will share their learnings and experience, both from a technological and regulatory perspective.

17:00

Exhibition Booth Parties (open to all visitors) VIP dinner (per invitation only)

DAY 3

WEDNESDAY, 20.11.2024

B2B FORUM Hall 7, B2B Auditorium

09:00 – 10:00

registration & NETWORKING

10:00 – 11:00

Session 5: Bridging the gap: public and private investors' funding capabilities and services for hydrogen deployment

EUR 1.2 to 2.6 trillion will have to be deployed in Europe for hydrogen development, equivalent to EUR 50 to 100 billion of yearly investments until 2050, with higher investments through the 2030s. This session will provide an opportunity for public and private investors to provide insights into non grants financial instruments for hydrogen deployment.

11:00 – 12:00

BREAK AND EXHIBITION VISIT

12:00 – 13:00

Session 6: Environmental and safety challenges of the hydrogen economy

Scaling-up the production, storage and handling of hydrogen to big volumes will require innovative materials for containment as well as technologies and protocols for leak detection and monitoring, in line with internationally agreed standards. This session will address the challenges associated with reaching the ambitious REPowerEU objectives.

13:00 – 14:00

BREAK AND EXHIBITION VISIT

14:00 – 15:00

Session 7: The role of local governments in advancing hydrogen technologies

This session will examine how regional and local government are driving the development of hydrogen technologies. For many of these communities, hydrogen has been identified not only as a solution for their energy transition but as a way to ensure sustainable and quality jobs for their citizens. In addition to sharing best practices, the session will also address the critical aspect of raising community acceptance of hydrogen technologies, including by introducing hydrogen educational and skills programmes, in cooperation with university, schools and private sector.

15:00 – 16:00

BREAK AND EXHIBITION VISIT

16:00 – 17:00

Session 8: Low-carbon hydrogen production pathways

The global shift towards sustainable energy solutions is driving innovative approaches to hydrogen production. This session will explore the cutting-edge technologies and strategies behind some of the most promising production pathways. Reforming natural gas and biomethane with carbon capture, methane splitting and waste-to-hydrogen are all critical pathways that will complement electrolytic base production.

17:00

Clean Hydrogen Partnership and Hydrogen Europe Research Awards (open to all visitors) Exhibition Booth Parties (open to all visitors)

DAY 4

THURSDAY, 21.11.2024

B2B FORUM Hall 7, B2B Auditorium

09:00 – 10:00

registration & NETWORKING

10:00 – 11:00

Session 9: Fuelling the future: how hydrogen contributes to the transport of tomorrow

As EU laws are entering implementation mode, panellists discuss the role of hydrogen technologies in decarbonising all transport modes, highlighting potential synergies and debating on remaining bottlenecks. Rapid deployment of infrastructure is also the necessary backbone for the development of local ecosystems, where hydrogen is used in a broad range of applications that, together, create economies of scale and further help the development of a hydrogen economy where fuel cells, combustion engines and other hydrogen-based solutions are widely used to speed up the transition towards a decarbonised society.

11:00 – 12:00

BREAK AND EXHIBITION VISIT

12:00 – 13:00

Session 10: E-fuels market uptake and production challenges

The European Commission expects that by 2050, 40% of future produced hydrogen will be dedicated to e-fuels for the mobility sector, with the aviation and maritime sectors driving the growth. The ReFuelEU Aviation Regulation sets a 1.2% synthetic fuels target in the European Union airports by 2030. This will require a significant supply of e-kerosene to main airports. The maritime sector is also looking into different e-fuel solutions to meet their decarbonisation obligations. Speakers will talk about the challenges faced by producers to supply these fuels and offtakers will explain how they integrate the use of these sustainable and innovative e-fuels in their decarbonisation strategies.
